Desert Dental Arts – A comprehensive practice featuring cosmetic, preventive, periodontal, endodontic, and implant services.
By June Allan Corrigan
There is comfort in familiarity. The comprehensive dental care and personalized approach that patients have always experienced at Desert Dental Arts continues in the capable hands of Dr. Cris Durghinescu. Nothing has changed since Dr. Cris — as his patients like to call him — took over the practice four years ago. However, his commitment to providing only the highest standard of care quite naturally means keeping abreast of the latest developments. It is why he is so pleased to introduce a treatment for patients who suffer from dry mouth.
“Saliva is the first defense against cavities. Many kinds of medication — anti-hypertensive, anti-cholesterol, antidepressants, and chemotherapy — can cause a patient to produce less than ideal amounts. The less saliva you have, the more cavities you have,” Dr. Cris says. His research into finding a solution uncovered a treatment that has long met success in Europe and Israel. Now FDA-approved and available in the United States, the treatment involves painless electrical stimulation of the nerve that prompts saliva production.
Recognizing and embracing new dentistry developments encapsulates the entire practice’s preventive approach to treatment. From Dr. Cris to supporting staff members, like dental hygienists Kathy Bobst and Andrea Smith — each marking 21 years in the same warm and inviting office — patients can count on an unparalleled level of care.
A 1994 graduate of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, School of Dentistry in Timisoara, Romania, Dr. Cris Durghinescu relocated to the U.S. in 1999. He passed his boards in California and then completed extended training in implant dentistry at the Medical College of Georgia. He is a member of the American Academy of General Dentistry.
